Are you a Driver? Pedestrian? Motorcyclist? or Cyclist?
Do you ply the Nigerian road in anyway?
Then i bet you must have seen the gory scenes on our roads which presents itself as "Road Crashes or Accidents".
It happens within a split second and lives and properties become maimed or destroyed. That is why it is said that "if you want to know the importance of a second, then ask someone who just narrowly escaped an accident.".
The truth still remains that road accidents occur like wild fire. And you know what?? Everybody, including you and me, has been directly or indirectly affected by this menace called road accidents.
We all complain about bad roads in Nigeria, but it is our attitude towards these roads that determine our survival. And this "attitude" depends on the level of information we have about how to ply these roads in a safe manner.
Majority of these accidents are caused by little or no knowledge of proper road usage by we, the supposed road users. For example, there are over 150 traffic/road signs, but only just a few are understood by us. Now what happens when we see a road sign that is supposed to warn us of a "diversion ahead" and we do not understand it.
My simple contribution towards alleviating the occurrences of road accidents is to make us all come in contact with the pros and cons of how to use our roads safely and effectively. With this patriotic intent, i created an online copy of "The Nigerian Traffic Code".
This book was written by the Federal Road Safety Corps in a hard copy format, but i decided to bring it online so that a lot of people can read it, because the information contained in it, if implemented, can SAVE your life. thanks to the availability of the internet. Besides, it also contains a lot of side attractions that makes it more interesting to read.
